With the July 4 holiday fast approaching people all over the country will be gearing up to host family and friends to celebrate America’s independence with barbeques and cookouts.
At Gordon’s Butcher and Market, they’re preparing the usual hamburgers and hot dogs as well as specialty items like spicy chubs, ox roast, and sausage.
Owner Kyle Bohrer has noticed about a 6% dip in meat transactions across the board however, they are still counting on this weekend to be one of their biggest of the year.
“I mean Fourth of July is week is always, probably next to Christmas the second busiest week of the year, so we call it the Super Bowl. We’re getting ready. We’re bringing in trucks all week and the guys are ready for the big bump in business for sure,” he said.
If you’re looking for a bargain, Bohrer said you can get pork shoulder for a few bucks a pound and feed a lot for a little.
