3 new brunches offered during the Des Moines farmers market – Information Important Internet

The Downtown Des Moines Farmers Market has its share of breakfast dishes served from tents along Court Avenue from Water to Fifth streets. Hungry shoppers can pick up Venezuelan arepas from Arepa DSM, kolaches and boudin from Cajun Belle, traditional Chinese dumplings from Dumpling House, Asian waffles from Lucky Birdie, and homemade Pakistani fare from Lyela’s Kitchen. It’s a cornucopia of flavors from around the world awaiting.

But if sitting down for some people watching and brunch is more your thing, the farmers market every Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon through the end of September and then from 8 a.m. to noon in October delivers. These restaurants and bars kicked off something new for brunch on Saturdays.

Stuffed Olive

Stop by on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for brunch options at the restaurant that moved 200 steps from its original location to 216 Court Ave. in Des Moines earlier this year.

The tapas and martini specialist has dishes such as a Scotch egg, a soft-boiled egg wrapped in bacon and served atop crisp sweet potatoes; a smoked salmon flatbread reminiscent of a bagel with lox; biscuits and gravy; and huevos rancheros.

Some of the clever options include a breakfast lasagna with a poached egg and lemon cream sauce and a banh mi breakfast sandwich with a sunny-side up egg and house-made sausage on a pretzel croissant. Pancakes even come topped with orange Dreamsicle, s’mores, or bananas Foster.

The restaurant also has a menu of new breakfast martinis in flavors such as Lucky Charms, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, blueberry cobbler and bloody Mary.

Bonus: a patio along the front of the restaurant just opened.

This Saturday features Lachele’s Fine Foods and its food truck.

On July 20, look for Waffles & Whip.
